Eagle Wings Industries and Richland Manufacturing nut and stud weld millions of parts annually. Both on "child parts" used within our own large sub-assemblies as well as for outside customers. We utilize electronic "Misuyoke" of "Poka-Yoke" devices to 100% inspect all nut & stud welded parts. No part can be set into the finished part basket without first passing through this device. Quick-change heads are used when multiple parts are run on one machine. Electronic sensors check to make sure all the fasteners are present and in the correct location. Finished part containers are surrounded by a cage and electronic light beams guard the entrance to the basket to prevent anyone from by-passing the check head device. All "Misuyoke" devices are electronically interlocked back to the weld machines.

If a defective part is detected it shuts down the nut welder, preventing any other parts to be ran without first investigating the defect. After a root cause for the defect is determined and countermeasured, the Team Leader re-sets the line with a key to resume operation. Associates cannot reset the line themselves or over-ride the system.
ROBOTIC NUT WELDING
Some higher volume parts at Eagle Wings are nut welded robotically. The associate loads parts onto the robots "hands", picks up the finished parts and starts the cell. He then is free to perform other operations within the cell while the parts are being nut welded.
